Jamie Romeo is a lifelong resident of the Town of Irondequoit, proud mother of Dominic and a proud member of the Democratic Party.

On February 6, 2020, Jamie received a Gubernatorial appointment to fill the vacancy and serve the remainder of the current term of Monroe County Clerk until December 31st, 2020. She was elected to her first 4-year term in November 2020, winning 54% of the vote. In 2024, she was elected to her second 4-year term, earning 57% of the vote in a 3-way General Election contest.

Within weeks of her initial appointment as County Clerk, Jamie and her team faced the COVID-19 pandemic, shutdown, and eventual reopen that drastically shifted their perspective on the value of the services provided by the County Clerk's Office, and a broader definition of accessibility. These lessons have largely defined the new vision and mission of the operations of the Monroe County Clerk's Office.

In her first term, Jamie established the first Annual Report for the Monroe County Clerk's Office. You can view the 2022 Report HERE and the 2023 Report HERE.

Jamie has also been proud to be a very active member with the New York Association of County Clerk's (NYSACC). In 2021, she was recognized with the NYSACC Annual Clerk Achievement Award. She currently serves as 1st Vie President of the New York State Association of Counties (NYSACC); co-chair of their Legislative Committee; and co-chair of the Finger Lakes Regional Committee of County Clerks.

In 2025, she was appointed to the New York State Independent Redistricting Commission at the recommendation of NYS Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins.

Jamie has had the honor and privilege of serving this community in numerous capacities. She served as the New York State Assemblywoman representing the 136th District (Brighton, City of Rochester, Irondequoit) in the NYS Legislature until early 2020. Jamie also served as MCDC Chairwoman, Chief of Staff in the New York State Senate, and long-time staffer to the Monroe County Legislature. This experience has empowered Jamie with immense insight into the workings of local government and their power to effect real change in our community.

Jamie is a graduate from St. John Fisher College cum laude through the Service Scholar Program, and received her Masters in Public Administration from SUNY Brockport.

She is currently working on her skills to be a better-suited gaming partner to her son and memorizing the correct chronology of the Star Wars universe.
